With less than a month to go before the race, the organizers have asked registered runners for a little more patience as they decide whether or not the event will be held. This comes in the context of the exceptional situation caused by the DANA Isolated High-Level Depression that has severely affected much of the province of Valencia and other regions across Spain.
The question of whether the Valencia Marathon will proceed remains unanswered. However, the official communication sent to runners not only reflects concern for the race but also conveys solidarity with those affected by the disaster.
We were on the front lines, directly aiding victims from Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, and later assisting with logistics as assigned by the authorities to support the affected communities.
Every bit of help matters. As you know, the city of Valencia has been only lightly affected by the disaster, but we cannot remain idle, and we continue to contribute our efforts to mitigate the effects of this tragedy in the outlying districts and nearby municipalities.
We also understand how important it is to reassure you as soon as possible about the race taking place on December 1st. Therefore, we ask for a bit more patience, just a few days given the exceptional situation, and we will provide an update next week. We encourage you to continue your training, as our goal remains to see you cross the finish line.
