After graduating, he worked one year for Combustion Science and Engineering in Maryland as a staff engineer.
In he received his PhD degree in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University with a thesis that focused on flame propagation and instabilities. Jomaas has published more than 70 peer-reviewed journal papers, as well as book chapters, reports and conference papers. His work has been cited more than times according to Google Scholar. These papers are based on a very broad experience in the field of combustion and fire safety engineering.
He is a popular speaker at seminars, and has given more than 75 conference talks and invited seminars on various topics around the world. Jomaas has a wide teaching experience related with fire safety engineering. In addition, he developed and managed a specialist education on Fire Investigation for the Danish National Police.
He has also a substantial teaching experience in research methods. He is known to provide high quality solutions that solve the problems at hand, and the solutions are always supported by well-documented, well-written reports.
