I am 24 years old and an English Philologist. I am a volunteer, and my main activity is teaching Spanish to citizens of different ages. I lived in Osijek last year doing my Erasmus courses in the Faculty of Humanities. I have never believed that I would come back to Osijek.
However, when I returned to Spain after Erasmus and finished my degree, I really needed a gap year. I discovered the European Solidarity Corps project last year in Osijek from a previous volunteer of my organization, who is also from Spain.
I decided to apply for this project, and I was chosen to join. I am very grateful to be here in Croatia. Marija: How did you end up in Osijek? Did you know anything about Croatia or Osijek before moving here?
When I was at the university and had to apply for my Erasmus destinations, I put Osijek at the end of my list. I wanted to live in an English-speaking country because I was studying for my degree in English Studies.
I added Croatia to my list without knowing anything about this country. I added it only because a classmate told me it was cheap and the university was very good. When I was chosen to come here, I had no expectations.
