This is Part II in my three-part series on apartment searching in Geneva. In Part I , I covered the fundamentals: what housing in Geneva is like, where to live, and how much it all costs. First of all, you should know a large portion of apartments in Geneva never, ever go on the market.
Especially the ones that have balconies, renovated kitchens and amazing views of the lake or the city. People sit on those apartments for decades at a time, and when they finally do change hands, they get passed on to friends and family and colleagues.
Here are the most common options. Facebook groups. I just have an empty, semi-anonymous account on there for the sole purpose of A flat hunting or B advertising my own place. Facebook is one of, if not THE best avenue for finding a place in Geneva. Any more than that, and the posts will start to become repetitive.
The listings on there have a much smaller audience and are thus less competitive. Also, if you work at an international organization, you can sign up for the free housing offers platform hosted by CAGI, the welcome service run by the city of Geneva specifically servicing people who work at IOs and diplomatic missions.
Very public websites like immoscout, homegate, flatfox, etc. Plenty of people will be requesting visits even without them.
