Thai massage is a proven healing treatment that has been practised for more than 3, years. It focuses on acupressure points that are linked to your body's internal organs and uses external force to tap into your energy channels. The massage involves targeted bodywork using not only the hands, but also the fists, thumbs, elbows and feet. It is a powerful technique that stimulates an overwhelming sense of well-being. T he sensual, second half of this massage consists of soft, attentive stroking movements and gentle, tender caresses all over your body - in particular, your erogenous zones - and culminates in a stimulating massage of your genital area.
Here, we use our imaginative and varied bodywork technique based on Far Eastern principles to provide you with maximum pleasure. Thai massage did not start out in Thailand, as is often assumed based on the name, it is actually based on Indian healing traditions.
Based on teachings from the Indian Ayurveda art of healing, it uses specific pressure or stretches particular lines to activate a network of energy across the whole body. Ayurveda is still practised in India, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The history of Thai massage dates back to the 5th century, when Buddha was alive. Ancient Buddhist writings reveal that a doctor named Jivaka-Komarabhacca had immense knowledge of healing practices at that time and was even the physician to a king called Bimbisara. There was constant contact between Jivaka-Komarabhacca which allowed practises and skills to be developed in Buddhist temples. Over the course of history, skills in Thai massage have made their way to Thailand, with further elements added based on influences from other regions, such as China.
It becomes clear how close the links are between Thai massage and Buddhist teachings and how it should therefore be considered a spiritual activity in this day and age. The art of Thai massage has been handed down verbally and in writing and also through global networking. However, sound knowledge and skilled application are absolute musts.
