A few weeks ago my hubby and son were out for the week at a Scout Camp in the Sierras. Ash, who is totally in love with her big brother, was absolutely devastated that she was going to be separated from her best friend for a whole week.
I asked her what we could do to help keep her mind off of him being gone and what we could do to entertain her for the week. She settled on having a movie night with friends.
Well, since I loved Nancy Drew as a kid, I was totally excited! Lucky for me, so was Shana of Society Sweets. She was kind enough to create some adorable goodies for meβ¦even though she was in the middle of moving! I wanted there to be a fun activity for the girls. In each kit was a disguise, a magnifying glass and a piece of a puzzle that I created from unfinished wood puzzle pieces I found at Hobby Lobby. I painted them with black chalkboard paint and wrote clues on them with white chalk markers.
The first clue was included on the puzzle and it started them on a scavenger hunt around the neighborhood solving riddles and finding envelopes with clues in them. Finally they were led to a picnic table in the neighborhood where they found the trunk with their picnic in it.
I made the glittered key, the mystery banner using coffee filters that I hand wrote on in script font to make them look like old book pages or letters. Ash made the pom pom garland. I found every mystery party supply I could.
