Was just looking at booking a few days in Provence next year, and to my dismay, our favourite hotel, that we have stayed in several times over the past 20 years, has just closed for good. This leaves me looking for somewhere new to stay.
Lively town - choice of restaurants, bars, shops. Interesting streets to wander around. Central location - i. Suites available so young teen can have his own bedroom, but not a separate hotel room. Balcony - where we can have a nightcap. Nice view is a bonus. I'm quite open on location, I would be interested in your suggestions. I am more familiar with the Var and Bouche de Rhone areas 83 and Are you interested in beach or more inland?
I live near Aix en Provence which is q lovely and lively town, but for the coast I like Bandol. Not sure if these types of areas interest you? Northern Bouches-du-Rhone is where we have stayed before, but we are not wedded to there specifically.
But also not against staying in the same sort of area. Off the top of my head these are nice hotels in Aix. Not sure if they met your requirements but worth a look. They are all central. Lourmarin looks a possibility, but the one room that I liked the look of seems to be booked up for the next couple of years!
Try splitting your time: Avignon might have what you're after. I stayed at hotel d'europe, I think it was. It's not what you want at all but next door rooms at Domaine Les Roulettes could work for a couple of nights. Then you would drive to all the villages I mentioned above. That was one of the nicest places I have stayed! I suppose Avignon is a possibility, but I think we'd prefer somewhere a bit smaller just not too small!
