Re: AW: It has to be head over heart. Is your surname Hill-Wood by any chance? Plymouth Gooner wrote: In terms of profit that should not be the main aim. Yes, we needed a few prudent years during the stadium build. But I don't think people who run football clubs should be in it to make a profit. I was young when clubs were becoming PLCs but remember people warning what it would lead to.
If profit is more important than winning on the pitch then we are NOT being run the 'right' way. The point is succinct.. Now where is the conflict? Lets not go in to the nitty-gritty of it.. Even you would agree we have enough transfer reserves to buy decent quality if not top quality.. Even you would agree we have not progressed to the extent we would have liked to in the last six years. Even you would agree we have holes in the squad which need to be plugged. Even you would agree there is scope for improvement.
Now my point is we had to be patient during our move to Emirates and we all where. Now i am not pointing gun at Wenger's head and asking him to deliver EPL trophy or be sacked.. I am not asking him to blow the bank , am i? All i am asking for is for him to utilize the transfer funds available to improve results on the pitch? Is it asking too much?
You think i am being a glory hunter if i want him to sign a couple of players in the January transfer window? I'd rather they sell them than be held to ransom over wage demands or keep them playing for a club when they'd rather be elsewhere. But some seem to think that is bad, it just isn't. Not replacing them is bad, but making money on them is not bad. Won't you make an exception for a player who pours his heart and soul every time he steps on to the pitch.
