We want this building to be a safe and empowering space for all those in need in the Waco community. First Baptist Church here in Waco came to us with a problem: trash. The tourism boom brought lots of it to their parking lots and surrounding areas. The easiest solution was to pay a company to clean it up, right? Instead, they reached out to us with an idea β what if we paid our participants staying in our homeless shelter to clean up their property and downtown?
Thus, the Street Sweep Employment Program was born. We pay our employees a livable wage with the goal of helping them find full-time employment and residence elsewhere while helping them provide for themselves.
All funding is provided by FBC Waco. Set in a home, this rigorous program requires total buy-in from the participants, which is why it works! Due to limited capacity, potential participants must be screened.
Manna House. Vincent Hartsfield, Sandy Emorian, and other staff and approved volunteers handle the application process. Please feel free to pass this information on to others you think may benefit from a professional treatment program. Oftentimes the biggest game-changer in the life of someone living in poverty is getting a job.
We want to empower community members to be able to provide for themselves, so we offer pre-employment services such as job readiness training, job search skills, computer skills and assistance in setting life goals and budgeting.
