Historically there was another Newark services, the building a few miles up the A1 at the Winthorpe Interchange , but that scaled back within a few years. As well as catering for long-distance traffic, the new Newark is also be aiming to attract local traffic from the new Fernwood Business Park opposite and the Newark Southern Link Road.
