As a basis for the class upgrade, you require a second class ticket an individual ticket, a Day Pass or a GA travelcard etc. Route-specific Class Upgrades are available at full or half price. Children from the age of 6 up to their 16th birthday and passengers with a Half Fare travelcard, a Day Pass for the Half Fare travelcard or a 2nd class GA travelcard can obtain a class upgrade at half price, and those travelling at full fare can buy one at full price.
Your 2nd class GA travelcard entitles you to travel in 1st class. Class upgrades are available for individual journeys, 1 day or 1 month. You can permanently upgrade your 2nd class GA travelcard to 1st class at any time during its period of validity. You can always decide spontaneously whether you would like to travel in 1st class.

Passengers with a 2nd class GA travelcard can obtain a class upgrade at half price. The one-month class upgrade allows you to travel first class for a month with your second class GA travelcard.
The charge for your new GA travelcard is reduced pro rata in respect of the remaining term of the old one.
