A police cordon is in place in Montpellier Gardens in Cheltenham this morning Sunday, December 12 after a teenage girl suffered a "serious sexual assault". Police were called to the public park at around 6. Gloucestershire Police say the girl is receiving support from specialist officers and their partner agencies.
A scene guard was put in place last night, and a photo shows police tape and vehicles blocking off the area near the cafe, art gallery, and playground. Officers are reviewing CCTV footage, and are appealing for anyone in the area at the time to come forward and speak to police. In a statement, Gloucestershire Police said: "Police are appealing for witnesses after a report of a serious sexual assault in Cheltenham yesterday. They are now appealing for anyone who was in the area around the time, and may have witnessed anything suspicious to come forward.
