You Never Know When You never know when you might be hit by a tsunami, an earthquake, a wildfire, a hurricane, a tornado, a landslide, a fill in the blank.
These abrupt, uncontrollable events happen all around the world. We constantly encounter warnings about potential dangers that can ruin our moment, day, week, life. How many of us heed them? We are all too quick to ignore such predictions; we know better. Nothing is going to happen to me; those admonitions are just scare tactics, we assure ourselves.
Go ahead and ski in the danger zone. Go ahead and cross in the middle of the street at night without a crosswalk while wearing dark clothing. Go ahead and eat that two-week old food in the refrigerator that smells a little strange.
You are big and tough. A wildfire was recently raging through parts of Southern California where I was raised. I personally know several people who had to evacuate.
