The purpose of the individual and Family Support is to help individuals with disabilities and their families to meet the needs of those recipients whose disabilities make it difficult for them to perform certain independent living skills such as bathing, dressing, grooming, food preparation and light housekeeping.
This program allows for two or more recipients to live together in a roommate situation. This will allow them the freedom to live as independently as possible. There is usually one staff member for two individuals. Each recipient will have their own room and they will have someone to share activities. Each recipient will be responsible for one half of the living expenses. This allows two individuals to be able to live independently at a savings to both. Supervised Independent Living is an array of services provided in residential settings designed to allow recipients to live as independently as possible in the community.
SIL in this setting is aimed at assisting the individual to acquire, retain, or improve skills in a wide variety of areas. Services under this program are Companion. Companion care gives an individual someone in the home to be a companion for the person and offer the support needed for the recipient to remain living independently in their home.
Residential Options Waiver. The purpose of the Residential Options Waiver ROW is to provide different types of residential options to people with developmental disabilities. The ROW provides you with the choice to live in the community, rather than in an institution. Services offered under this program provide Personal Care assistance. These services include certain basic independent living skills such as bathing, dressing, grooming, light housekeeping, food preparation, laundry and assistance with transportation to appointments.
Long Term - Personal Care Services are designed to give the recipient the assistance needed tor email as independent as possible and to remain in their own home. Basic personal care-toileting and grooming activities. Assistance with eating and food preparation. Performance of incidental household chores, only for the recipient. Accompanying, not transporting, recipient to medical appointments.
