Important: Check-in can take minutes, so please plan accordingly. After AM, all surgeries with appointments lose their priority status and become walk-ins subject to space available. In preparation for all surgeries, pets must be fasted NO food or treats β water is OK to prevent dehydration from 8PM the night before surgery. Spaying and neutering are the surgical sterilization of an animal.
It is a routine surgery performed by a veterinarian while an animal is under general anesthetic. The procedure consists of removing certain reproductive organs: in females, the uterus, oviducts and ovaries; in males, the testicles. Under proper veterinary care there is little risk.
The animal is usually up and about within one or two days. A spayed or neutered pet will live a longer, healthier, happier life, will listen better and be easier to train, will be calmer and more affectionate, will be less likely to roam, run away or fight with other animals and will NOT add to the pet overpopulation problem. Appointment Check-in : AM Late arrivals subject to lose appointment.
All animals must be picked up before PM. The Humane Society of Greater Miami is dedicated to placing every dog and cat in our care into a loving home. We are an adoption guarantee shelter, meaning that every animal that is admitted into our shelter is free from the threat of euthanasia due to time, space or treatable medical issues.
We offer a low-cost, spay and neuter and preventive health care clinic in North Miami Beach to serve the pets of South Florida. At public and private schools, scouting troops, special needs groups, local libraries, various community youth organizations as well as adult organizations, the Humane Society of Greater Miami teaches the young and old appropriate lessons about kindness to animals, empathy, responsible pet care and the causes and results of pet overpopulation.
