Font Size Font Size. We held four crusade services in Jinja, Uganda, East Africa and four services in Kampala the capital where the tour group was scheduled to meet us. I thought I needed to go to sleep, but I just needed God to talk to me—and talk He did.
He let me get some wonderful, wonderful rest, and then we were in the air again headed for Uganda. A country bordering Lake Victoria with lush tropical forests, tea and sugar plantations, and mountains, Uganda has been called the Pearl of Africa. Jinja is a lake fishing port situated on the northern end of the Napoleon Gulf of Lake Victoria. When we arrived, the press was waiting to interview me. Not knowing just what to expect in Jinja, we were pleased to find excitement over the crusade.
I was told that never before had an international evangelist come to their city. Wonderful helpers from the area stayed with the stage and equipment day and night, and came to Kampala to take care of it again. I was overwhelmed with their loyalty and love. He gives me the strength and endurance of the young. The hotel grounds in Jinja are beautiful; I enjoyed looking out from my room and seeing scenes that reminded me of Florida.
One day I heard people singing and making music. They were loud. What is going on? I was touched that they had gathered with such enthusiasm. The preachers were right in there with me, wanting more, more, more. God was moving, and they were drinking in every word. We had a glorious time. I gave each minister there the book The Deceit of Lucifer. They were so grateful, so happy to get it. I doubt a preacher there had a car. We have much to thank God for but all too often fail to appreciate His blessings the way we should.
We need to wake up. The people gathered at the services, rejoicing and singing. I enjoyed them very much. My interpreter followed my gestures and characteristics. If I laughed, he laughed. If I gestured, he gestured. He was an excellent interpreter. Someone said that on Sunday afternoon the whole city came out. People came not only from Jinja but from other areas. I heard it said that the Sunday afternoon crowd was the greatest crowd that had ever gathered for anything in that place.
