My wife and I spent a large part of yesterday in a kind of time warp, a jump back to a period when the upper class would spend their day being pampered. I haven't being posting to this journal much lately, but Karen suggested I post my view here.
There are two baths, Caracalla Therme and Friedrichsbad. Caracalla is more modern, a suana area and a swimming area with a lazy river, water sprays, grottos, etc. Although the sauna area follows the traditional rules of bathing nude, the swimming area requires suits.
They are right next to each other and are run by the same company. We didn't have enough time to do both and I wanted to try the traditional style and so we went to Friedrichsbad. We walked over around noon, after a lazy morning and chose the "luxury" package, which includes 4 hours in the bath, a brush and soap "massage", and a cream massage. On "separated" days, as you enter the women go to one side and the men to the other, while on mixed days, as was Friday, they direct you both to one side or the other, in order to keep the crowding down.
