We offer the canvas print either mounted on a stretcher frame or in a frame. Letter locations show a city's boroughs within their actual boundaries. This results in a kind of lettered city map in which each district is exactly where it belongs. In addition to the official quarters, every city also has unofficial, grown quarters and neighborhoods that can be found in the letter locations on the spot.
Each motif has been extensively researched and created by hand. Although we use modern software for the typesetting of the letters, each district and its exact location is researched and each letter is rotated and inserted by hand in order to optimally depict the districts in their actual location - unlike a computer-generated word cloud.
The idea for this combined motif comes from our screen prints with background design, which are only available at our fairs and in the studio. This version is kept subtle in color and the background motif stands out better without pushing too much into the foreground.
This print is not available online as a screen print. The shades of gray come into their own on the high-quality, digitally printed artist canvas with an elegant, matt finish. The canvas can be placed in a removable frame or, alternatively, we can stretch it by hand on a stretcher frame. The stretcher frame is printed all around and can be hung up easily and without an additional frame.
