MG Distributors Enamel dash badges. Someone may have one by Wadham Bros. Is this what you are after? Did University Motors have a badge that they applied to the dashboard and what did it look like? Hi Gordon, I believe it was like this repro one I have. If anyon has one they want to sell me like the one below that George Eagle kindly sent me a picture of couple of years ago.
Must have had a senior moment so I have slapped my self on the wrist. PA Here is mine TH. Hi Terry Nice bit of engine turning there. George Land A Hewens Garage Maidenhead for PA The car was actually supplied by White Hart Garage of High Wycombe to the first owner but Hewens were the official agents for the area. There will be an MG list of distributors somewhere in the records. There are many to be seen on stalls at Beaulieu Autojumble.
Rob, If you collect these things, have you or anybody else ever seen one of these for "Imperial Motor Mart" of Cheltenham? Despite many years of admittedly half-hearted looking at auto-jumbles etc, we have never come across one. Cheers, JH. It is interesting to compare the reproduction University Motors plate with the one in RodB's collection. I presume that the different addresses mean that they moved premises at some time.
From his second post Vitesse suggests the University Motors change of address occured in Alan Thanks for the information. Does anyone know whereabouts on the dashboard they were fitted? JMH I collected the dash badges over 30 years ago and have not found any since then. Can anyone inform us why Saint Christopher was prominently used on the badges of many distributors at that time? RodB NZ. Thanks for that Rob. If my father never found one, maybe Imperial Motor Mart never had one. Still, it's a nice distraction to keep looking until I find out one way or the other.
It's not enamel, but rather a bakelite with screen printed letters. I'll post a photo when I can either find the photo or when I get get all the snow away from the storage trailer. Bob, Canada. I had a used L2 body which had a University Motors badge attached. It was round and made out bronze and stamped I think. Anyway it was stolen at a T-Register meeting that I held at my place one night. It did not matter since I was trying to give it to a deserving cause.
