We live in a digital age: iPhones, SmartPhones, laptops, Videodromes, tablets, Androids and the like dominate our daily lives, not only connecting us to one another but to untold stores of information at the literal touch of a finger. Wearing the Sync has been a unique experience. Perhaps the biggest challenge for me was in having to readjust my habit of keeping my head down and looking at the ground when I walk; no more of that. Suddenly, I was beginning to understandβreally understand, through firsthand experienceβsome of the challenges that my PAL patients have faced in adapting to their new lenses.
Preston Fassel was born in Houston, Texas and grew up between St. Charles, Missouri and Broken Arrow, Okla. Preston currently works as an Optician in the Houston area. His interest in the history of eyewear goes back to his time in high school, when he developed an interest in all things vintage.
His fiction writing has been featured three times in Swirl magazine, the literary arts journal of Lone Star College and Montgomery County. He is the author of the definitive work on the life of British horror actress Vanessa Howard, Remembering Vanessa , which appeared in the Spring edition of Screem Magazine.
