Gidday All, I've finally finished my model of epic proportions all mm of it , HMS Montgomery , a convoy escort destroyer as she appeared in HMS Montgomery received two refits to convert her for convoy escort work, and the model depicts her after the second conversion. I also replaced the foremast with a scratch-built mast. Here she is, HMS Montgomery , Thank you all for your interest, comments and support during the build.
Regards to all, Jeff. I'm liking. Gidday Guys, and thanks. I've read somewhere that they were a bit uncomfortable in a seaway, that they would "roll on wet grass". It makes me very respectful of the crews of these vessels, who had to fight the elements as well as the enemy, for years.

I'm currently doing a ' Fletcher' class in that scale, small enough for me I think, so those that do the smaller ships like you are doing and there's some ' Hunt ' class on the forum have my admiration. The build thread is still on here, most of the photo's have gone photobucket, or whatever it was but there are a couple showing assembled and an undercoat.
If you scroll down a bit you'll find a couple. Gidday Davey, I've just had a look at your build thread. The last photos are still there, and I think we agree quite closely on fitting etc those that are visible behind the photobucket watermark. My boat davits are a bit heavy duty and my scratch built parts will never compete with PE fittings for fine detail. Gidday Andreas, I did one also as a kid, late '60s.
As usual for me then it was made OOB , no paint, then got battered as we played wars with it. When the mast and funnels broke off we used it as a submarine. Since taking up the hobby again twenty plus years ago I've done three - the first OOB and simply titled an "American Flush-decker", the second being HMS Campbeltown modified to depict her on her final mission to St Nazaire and now this ship.
