Her hands skimmed over all the knots in my shoulders, finding every sore spot and applied just the right amount of pressure to relieve the tension. She then began the final part of the treatment which involved touching specific pressure points on my face; first the temples, then my jawline, then my nose. I tried to take deep breaths as I lay there thinking all the intrusive thoughts that often come during a panic attack;.
Luckily the massage was nearly over so she handed me a glass of water and let me recover in peace. I asked on Twitter if this had happened to anyone else and I was relieved to hear a few people say yes. I had all these negative thoughts bubbling away and they seemed to surface as soon as they were given the space to breathe.
