SHEBOYGAN β Sheboygan police on Thursday used non-lethal munitions to take a person armed with a knife in the downtown area into custody after a welfare check and discovery the person had killed his dog. The incident began when police responded to a welfare check at a home in the block of North 11th Street. When officers arrived, they found blood outside the home, police said in a news release. Officers soon began searching the area for the resident of the home.
During the investigation, they uncovered evidence the subject of the welfare check had mistreated and abused his dog, causing its death. Shortly thereafter, police located the suspect in the downtown area. Several officers responded to the area to take the suspect into custody. Officers noticed the suspect had several injuries unrelated to the less lethal munitions and, along with Sheboygan Fire Department paramedics, began life-saving measures.
The suspect was transported to an area hospital before being transported to a Milwaukee-area hospital. Anyone with information can call the police department at Contact Brandon Reid at breid gannett.
