People surrounding her look her as perfect, adventurous and brave, a woman whom anybody could admire. That is why she told to herself that she is a papergirl fake girl that will live in paper towns. Maybe she had done this because she felt totally empty that no one really understands her.
Let us say, a defense mechanism for she fights what she feels. They have also built friendship since childhood but go on separate ways in highschool, by this, Margo maybe want to rebuild the friendship again before leaving. Another is because they have already an adventure experience on their childhood years and Margo wants Quentin to show his bravery. Well, I agree with all those hypothesis given by my group. It was all an intelligent guess.
Just in addition on Quentin being the least suspicious person because in the story, he was described as a good and kind person, so nobody would think that he will be part of this revenge.
For another reason about showing the bravery of Q. Do you think the person whom Margo targets for revenge got what they deserve? Does her friend Lacey need to be included? Yes because they knew their actions are wrong yet they do it for their own pleasures. But not including Lacey for Margo just misunderstood her. Maybe yes because what you have done for others will be done for you.
Let the revenge comes from other not from Margo because she was still a friend. However, for me, its yes. Those persons have really done something for her. Of course it caused her pain upon knowing this.
