Our lawmakers introduced a bill that would end Daylight Savings Time forever in North Dakota, and we would join two other states that do not observe Daylight Savings Time Arizona and Hawaii. I for one, prefer to have longer summer evenings and I enjoy sunsets around 10 pm in the summertime. This gives me more time to do things after work. Whether it's yard work, an evening of fishing, or just enjoying time on the deck. If Daylight Savings time goes away permanently that means shorter summer evenings.
I wonder if people truly understand that. It will be getting dark at 9 pm rather than 10 pm. That's my argument against doing away with Daylight Savings Time altogether.
This bill passed the first round in the House by a pretty big margin It now moves on to the Senate for further consideration. This year, the first day of spring will reach North Dakota and the northern hemisphere on March, 20th, but we will actually spring forward with our clocks to Daylight Savings Time a bit earlier.
We will skip right over 2 am jump straight to 3 am. This means March 9th will be only 23 hours long. Yep, some cutting-edge mathematics right there.
