Her Canadian father of Scottish descent was a lawyer for oil and gas companies and her mother, of German descent, a dance instructor.
From age 11, she began training in all styles of dance at YYC Dance Project, a dance company owned by her mother, [ 13 ] and underwent ballet training at the School of Alberta Ballet, the training school for the Alberta Ballet Company.
