It was a first collegiate start Colorado freshman Sebastian Rancik likely will remember, no matter how long he extends his basketball career. He knocked down a couple key free throws late to keep the Buffaloes in the fight. And he also watched a potential dramatic, go-ahead 3-pointer rattle in and out in the waning seconds.
Rancik went 3-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-4 on free throws, finishing with nine points, four rebounds and no turnovers in plus minutes. On the most turnover-prone team in the Big 12, the freshman forward has committed just two turnovers in his past nine games while gradually playing increased minutes. With Rancik getting the starting nod, CU has now utilized nine different starting combinations in 20 games. Baskin, like all of his teammates, has weathered an inconsistent season, but he has been a force in two games against Arizona State.
On Tuesday, Baskin went 7-for from the field and 4-for-6 on free throws, finishing with 19 points, four rebounds and a season-high-tying four steals. Baskin also had four steals during a Jan.
