To help support her art studies she starting her career in the kitchen, flipping burgers at the Mountain Sun Pub and Brewery in Boulder, CO, where she discovered her passion for cooking.
It was there that Chef Kate first felt her expression completely realized; technically innovative, delicately prepared French-Asian fusion cuisine. After six months cooking here, Kate was offered the Executive Chef position and eventually partnership. Through her fresh, flavorful, seasonally changing menus, Chef Kate has earned top marks nationally with connoisseurs and critics, and most importantly Steamboat locals.
Chef Kate balances her culinary career with her husband, Craig, her two dogs and her maniacal pursuit of mountain sports. Long-time server Daryl succumbed to a fatal heart attack on Saturday, April 24th A fixture here at Cafe Diva, Daryl was loved by his co-workers and guests alike. Daryl was voted "Best of the Boat - Best Waiter" every year, since the award's inception. Daryl's love of skiing and mountain biking equaled his professional success.
Beyond a server, ski bum, or local, Daryl was the epitome of the western hospitality for which Steamboat Springs is famous. It is with sadness in our hearts, and a commitment to honoring his legacy, that we say goodbye to our friend.
