All these areas are grouped together in the present document. This suggestion appears to be pure speculation. This is supported by the Actus pontificum Cenomannis which records the installation of " Avesgaudus, nepos ipsius " as bishop of Le Mans after the death of " Segenfrido " in [] [9]. The chronology of the successive bishops of Le Mans also appears incompatible with Bishop Avesgaud having been the great-nephew of Bishop Seinfrid:. IVES [ de Creil ]. This passage has been taken in secondary sources as indicating that Ives died after [], when Gaucelin became abbot of Fleury.
However, it is not evident from the text that Ives made his donation during the abbacy of Gaucelin, rather it may have been the diversion of the property by his son which took place while Gaucelin was abbot. Use of both terms in ther same document suggests that a distinction was intended. Another possibility is that the two terms were used indiscriminately by the author of the document to add literary variety to his text and were not intended to indicate different meanings.
The Actus pontificum Cenomannis records the installation of [her son] " Avesgaudus, nepos ipsius " as Bishop of Le Mans after the death of " Segenfrido " in [] [15].
This suggests that Godehildis may have been the sister of Bishop Seinfrid. The possibility that Hildeburge was born from an otherwise unrecorded earlier marriage of her father is discussed above. Bishop of Le Mans [].
