Until she relapsed into a haze of cocaine and booze, Nadia Frey had been a cautious woman in a risky business. The cash was delivered to the West Side apartment where she was found shot to death last July.
But in the months before her killing, she let her guard down, police sources said. Frey, 58, began servicing almost anyone who answered her ads in bondage magazines greatly enlarging the pool of suspects.
Never have been. For a woman who promised clients wild abandon, she wrote everything down and often tape recorded conversations. Many of her clients were businessmen with unusual tastes. Frey also took hundreds of photographs of clients wearing masks, posing in various bondage positions and engaged in deviant sex acts.
In her papers, Frey left behind a raunchy map for police who have combed through the 75 or so names in her client roster at the time of her death and tracked down all but a half dozen. Those unaccounted for include a man who Frey believed knocked her out with a drug in her drink, then stole her jewelry the month before her murder. Detectives say they still have leads to run down and are hopeful of getting a break in the case. More in News.
