A commotion broke out Thursday morning in a Fall River courtroom following the arraignment of a city woman accused of trafficking underage prostitutes, our news partners at The Herald News reported.
Watch video. As she was being escorted outside the courtroom, Lara said, "I didn't do it," and began hitting her head on a Plexiglass partition. She threw herself to the floor and resisted a court officer's attempt to restrain her, prompting additional security personnel to arrive and evacuate people from the courtroom. Prosecutors said Lara facilitated underage prostitutes for customers at a Fall River bar. Prosecutors said Lara drove the teenage girls to meet customers at their apartments and vehicles.
Lara, through her attorney, denied the allegations. Lara said she notified authorities on three separate occasions about underage drinking and prostitution at Fernando's Bar in Fall River, according to her attorney. Feliciano Ramirez, a codefendant, was arraigned on charges that he received oral sex from a teenage prostitute allegedly provided by Lara. Ramirez also denies the allegation. Lara's relatives were emotional and began screaming when Lara threw herself on the ground. Court officers escorted the relatives outside the courthouse.
The relatives refused to speak with reporters, with one young woman saying, "We don't want to talk to you. We're not playing. Lara is scheduled to return to court Feb.
