Daniel J. Marshall was sentenced to 2 years in jail, followed by three years of probation, after admitting to three counts of paying for sexual conduct and one count of maintaining a house of prostitution. In summer and fall , city police were investigating a rise in reports of women being prostituted in the area. During that investigation, Marshall was identified as a man who was transporting women throughout Pittsfield to appointments for sex.
A number of women told police some of the sex took place in Marshall's home and he would sometimes have sex with them in exchange for drugs, housing or cash. A search of Marshall's West Housatonic Street home found identification and personal belongings of some of the women, as well as drugs and drug paraphernalia, according to Assistant Berkshire District Attorney Stephanie Ilberg. He was represented by attorney Joseph Vosit. While on probation, Marshall must stay away from and have no contact with the women involved and must complete sex offender, drug and alcohol and mental health evaluations, among other conditions.
