The RER E line now stretches to Nanterre following the inauguration of three new stations westward from Saint-Lazare station yesterday. Designed with passenger comfort and convenience in mind, the stations feature spacious interiors with ample natural light, widened platforms, and accessible amenities to facilitate smooth transitions for all commuters. Additionally, they provide numerous connections to other transit networks, including 4 other RER lines, 7 Transilien lines, 5 tram lines, 10 metro lines, the future lines of the Grand Paris Express, and over bus lines.
Commuters should note that initially, trains serving the extension will terminate at Magenta station, requiring passengers continuing their journey to disembark at Haussmann Saint-Lazare station and transfer directly to trains bound for Chelles-Gournay or Tournan, in Seine-et-Marne. Train frequency on the extended route to Nanterre-La Folie will initially be four trains per hour between and , gradually increasing to normal service levels by the end of with the introduction of additional RER NG trains.
Trains will operate every 15 minutes between and on weekdays and until on weekends and holidays. The new train control and supervision automation system provided by Siemens Mobility significantly increases the number of trains in the central Paris section, between Rosa-Parks and Nanterre-La Folie, while improving the frequency and regularity of the line, with train intervals potentially dropping to seconds.
Enhanced punctuality is also attributed to traffic management from the Pantin East-West Francilian unique command centre.
