Well, here we are, the final blog post. It was a tear-filled farewell, but we had to express our gratitude and love to Sabine. Friedrich, who had formed a particularly strong relationship with Sabine, bought her flowers and we all signed a card for our wonderful Mother Sabine.
Friedrich and Sabine hug it out while Jake, and the rest of us, try not to cry in the background. The rest of the day was a flurry of action as students began vacating the rooms that had been their homes for the past four months, saying goodbye to France for, hopefully not, the last time! To everyone who supported us, our friends new and old , families, and loved ones, thank you.
See you soon! On Thursday, December 13th, the group had one last dinner together as almost ex-Cannes. To celebrate our semester together, we went to La Farigoule on Rue Meynadier!
But most importantly, we had a chance to wrap up the semester on a high note, toasting to our successes and hardships alike, and wishing each other safety and health in our future travels. Of course, no baking session at the CIC would be complete without our favorite chef, Sabine! She kindly agreed to help us make a French dessert to add to our menu, which already had American Nutella cookies. After lunch, we joined Sabine in the kitchen to have our cooking lesson!
With a good arm workout, a few eggs, and only one Oops which we turned into eggnog , we were well on our way! After making the pastry mixture, Sabine taught us how to make the cream that goes inside! She told us that the recipe calls for 16 eggs, but it could be more, or it could be less!
