Around The State. Held in the Spring and Fall, a Ramble tour allows participants to discover historic sites in communities across the state, offering exclusive access to properties not usually open to the public. Tours are casual and often have a few properties which are not typically open for the public to visit.
We find that after attending a Ramble, folks often revisit the towns, shops, and restaurants they see while in the area. A highlight of the Spring Ramble includes a visit to the Villa de la Vergne, a s home estate constructed on a bluff bound by the Bogue Falaya and Abita Rivers. The property suffered from years of demolition by neglect and was sold in recent years to a new owner who is currently rehabilitating the historic house and grounds.
Other sites on the tour include H. Participants will meet at Christ Episcopal Church N. The Ramble is self-paced; transportation between sites is not provided and carpooling is strongly encouraged. Registration includes admission to the sites as well as a boxed lunch. Proceeds from the tour help support Louisiana Trust programs to advocate, promote, and preserve historic places statewide. LTHP works to raise public awareness of the importance, concern, and support for preservation through technical assistance, education, outreach, advocacy, and strategic alliances.
