So I have the extra components for some reason , an extra CD player, and a cassette player that appeared from I know not where.
I have my original Yamaha stereo amp and tuner that I bought in Sydney in and a turntable I bought off a friend in Stockholm along with albums and his bike.
So speakers on opposite sides of the room, but I needed a long speaker wire that had to be threaded behind the shelves along the bottom row on two sides of the room. So Olivia did this while I tried to connect all the components in the opposite corner. The CD was making a weird rumbling sound, the tuner was just interference and the turntable sounded awful, distorted and unusable.
We watched Shogun over dinner and I remembered that in the seventies there was a lot of hype about the books written by James Clavell and Richard Chamberlain starred in what was to become a huge success in Shogun the TV series. Clavell was a fascinating character, Australian-born, Japanese prisoner of war, writer, filmmaker, he wrote, directed and produced To Sir, With Love , one of my fave sixties films with one of my fave sixties songs sung by Lulu written by Don Black and Mark London.
A rowdy old night outside The Archive tonight with the summer fervour exciting the locals as much as the tourists. The deck outside the front door had a party of joyous laughing revellers for most of the afternoon, some faces I recognised. There were motorbikes revving up, madmen screaming and as the night went on the usual bands of blokes hooting their way through the street.
