When it comes to self-care, one thing often comes up quite a bit. Go get a massage! Then I discovered the Augusta School of Massage. But, due to a fire, they are currently operating out of a location at Washington Road. They believed everyone could benefit from massage therapy, and they were committed to providing quality education for their students.
Throughout the years the school has grown and trained many massage therapists. And they continue to enroll new students each year. I told him I really wanted a massage. And I booked the first of four for this past Saturday. The biggest pro when it comes to getting a massage at a massage school is, of course, the price. Occasionally they will offer even more discounted rates on their Facebook page. In order to graduate, they have to get real-life experience doing massages.
Before the massage, you fill out a form with some basic information and your expectations. Afterward, you fill out another form to let them know how well the experience was and offer feedback for the student. First of all, the environment is a little bit different than a traditional spa. All of the students and their clients are in that room. Everyone remains pretty quiet, and they have relaxing music.
The only other thing is the student giving you the massage may not have experience in all types of massage. For example, I prefer deep-tissue massages.
I have a lot of tension and knots in my shoulders and back, so I really need deep pressure. I still had a great massage and felt very relaxed afterward. Also, appointment times are limited to certain days. Overall, I highly recommend the Augusta School of Massage. The students are very professional and are working towards their goals.
