Investigators allege Pride made arrangements online to bring a year-old and year-old woman to the Syracuse-area for the purposes of prostitution. The women were assaulted, burned with cigarettes, forced to have sex for money and then give the money to Pride for drugs, according to Fitzpatrick.
Pride was one of three men being monitored by law enforcement officers throughout the investigation. Matthew Rathburn, 38, was arrested and charged in October for one count of attempting to disseminate indecent material to a minor. Police say Rathburn had been communicating with a girl he believed to be 14 years old online. Between August and October, police allege Rathburn tried to get the girl to visit him for sex, send inappropriate photos of his genitals and requested photos of the underage girl.
He was arrested on Oct. A third man, Larry Webber, was also arrested and charged in connection to the investigation. Federal officials say he allegedly used the internet to entice a minor into having sex. He is currently being held without bail. The case is only the most recent investigation into sex trafficking and prostitution in Central New York. Earlier this month, four people were arrested in Cayuga County and charged after police began to investigate complaints about a prostitution ring targeting agricultural workers at local farms.
Out of the four arrests, two people were charged with patronizing a prostitute, one person was charged with prostitution and one person was charged with possession of a loaded firearm.
