Prisoners and remandees can receive emails from family, friends and community members via the Email a Prisoner service. The same rules that govern incoming mail and photos applies to emails. Family, friends and community members wishing to contact prisoners or remandees may do so from the comfort and safety of their own homes using a computer, or smart device such as a mobile phone , without the need to write a letter, or use the physical postal service. The Email a Prisoner service is also less expensive than sending conventional letters and provides more legible communication for prisoners and remandees.
Persons wishing to send email messages to remandees or prisoners must register with the service provider on the Email a Prisoner website. Persons sending email messages to prisoners or remandees will pay a fee for each email message that is less than the cost of sending a letter through the postal service.
The Email a Prisoner service is managed by Unilink, who perform all administrative functions relating to the service, facilitate the service and liaise with senders on behalf of the Tasmania Prison Service. It is the responsibility of external parties to identify prisoners or remandees and their locations in order to send email messages to desired recipients. Skip to content. Print Dyslexic font.
