The sixth annual Ojibwe Language Symposium celebrates and honor language holders and learners. The goal is to make language learning accessible to everyone and inspire and encourage others to care for and protect language. The event features immersive language sessions.
Full Schedule Friday, Feb. This three-hour class introduces the craft of greenwood spoon carving. Students finish the class with their own hand-carved serving spoon. The first part of the class will study safety, knife grips and traditional techniques for carving.
For the rest of the class, students transform their spoon blank into a completed spoon. Registration is available at duluthfolkschool. The music of Glenn Miller sets the mood for this Minnesota Ballet performance as the audience follows the escapades of three World War II servicemen on their last night out on the town before their deployment.
The evening will be rounded out with original works by Minnesota Ballet company members. This event reimagines the Hans Christian Andersen story through a contemporary lens. Elements of Bach's St. Matthew Passion are woven together to create a connection between the suffering of the young match girl and the sacrifice of Jesus in Christianity.
